Dr Alain Popov
General Practitioner with special interest in Dermatology
Dr. Alain grounded himself in many specialties in several teaching hospitals in London following medical school at Manchester University in 1997 (MB ChB). These include posts in general medicine, emergency care, haematolgy, senior care, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, endocrinology, cardiology and paediatrics.
He was awarded membership of the Medical Royal College of Physicians in 2002, achieved membership of the Joint Committee of Postgraduate Training of General Practice in 2005.
In 2008 he was awarded a Diploma of Practical Dermatology from Cardiff University and set up the specialist dermatology service and opinion for the whole practice, which serves a total population of over 40,000 patients.
On average he sees over a hundred patients per week, managing a wide diversity and complexity of cases.
A significant majority of his work is in dermatology, in which his interest and specialism stand.
At the same time, he set up the minor surgery service, which includes excision of skin lesions, injections of joints and keloids, and cryotherapy. This is very popular and appreciated by patients.
His main passion and specialism are in dermatology and minor surgery. He has completed the Cardiff university course in Dermoscopy, and incorporates this in screening for skin cancer and the assessment of skin lesions and hair loss. He manages all skin conditions in his daily practice.
He has a large following, knowing and providing continuity of care for some of his patients for almost two decades.
With his wide experience, he is able to provide a service tailored to the individual.
