What happens during Airflow Teeth Polishing?
Airflow Polishing can be performed during a hygienist appointment – you won’t need to go to the dentist first. Your hygienist will blast a jet of pressurised air, water and fine particles to remove surface stains that can’t be removed with brushing alone. This type of treatment reduces your chances of developing gum disease and your hygienist can recommend how often to have it, depending on your unique individual oral health needs.
This treatment is often used for cleaning teeth before procedures that require sealants because it removes much of the bacteria and endotoxins present. This means sealants and bonds are more effective at gripping onto tooth surfaces.
